Want an experience that truly connects you to the food on the table? You've probably heard of Farm to Table dinners, but we are taking it one step further with our "Farmer at the Table" dinner. Our goal is to provide you with an opportunity to not only eat fresh, local food but to create a relationship with the farmers, roaster and chef who grew, roasted and prepared the food on the table.
Our first Dinner on the Dairy last June created a demand for more dinners like it, so we have been working on a series of dinners for this summer and fall.
Hot summer days call for a nice cold drink, a spot in the shade overlooking a body of water and fresh produce from the garden. This month's Dinner on the Dairy will take place at Hugh and Tracey's log cabin overlooking the pond and fields on the farm. Join us for a 3 course meal featuring pasture raised chicken from Snyder Family Farm, produce from Thompson Farms & Roger Browne's farm, honey from Yerby Honey Farm, chevre from Goats R' Us, our own delicious homemade ice cream made with local blueberries and wine from Rosemont of Virginia Winery.
Before we sit down to dinner, Hugh and TR will fire up the corn chopper to show you how we harvest corn to make silage for the cows. While we are out in the field, we will have a brief discussion about sustainable farming and the role GMO's play. So be sure to bring your questions and your appetites!
