Schedule a Tour
We are proud of our farming heritage and enjoy sharing our passion for agriculture through scheduled tours in May thru October.

Open Farm Tours

If you aren't able to attend one of our other open farm events, this tour is for you.  The third Friday of every month from May thru September we offer a farm tour that includes the milking parlor with a chance to milk a cow, the cow barns, the cow food pantry (to see what cows eat) and the calf barn.  Please note, we will not have the kid's area or picnic area set up for these tours.  It is a chance to tour the farm only.

Reservations are required.  Tours start at 4 pm and last about an hour to an hour and a half.  Admission is $8/person and is limited to 20 people.  If you have a group of more than 20 and would like a private tour, we can schedule you separately.  For reservations, contact Maggie Shepherd at (434)-294-1960.

May/June School Tours

Tours start the second week in May and run through the last weekend of June.

Our spring season focuses on dairy farming and highlights what life is like for our cows and the farmers who work hard to pamper them.

Admission is $8/person and includes either homemade butter to take home or a scoop of homemade ice cream to enjoy on the farm. Teachers, bus drivers and children 2 and under are free.

Tours start at 10 a.m. and last about 2 hours.  Tours include the milking parlor, the cow barns to see where they eat and sleep, a visit to the calf barn, and the opportunity to milk a real cow! In addition, SOL based lessons from the Ag in the Classroom website are incorporated into a few of the tour stops.

If you would like to stay for lunch, bring a picnic and grab a spot in the shade on the lawn.

October School Tours

We are now accepting reservations for our fall season.  Bookings run from October 1 -31.

Our fall season highlights Virginia agriculture while offering a glimpse into dairy farming.  Come see a selection of farm animals that occupy many farms across the state and learn interesting facts about the number one industry in Virginia as you find your way through our corn maze.

Admission is $8/person and includes a small pumpkin to take home.  Teachers, bus drivers and children 2 and under are free and additional pumpkins are available for purchase.

Tours start at 10 a.m. and last about 2 hours.  Tours include the milking parlor, the calf barn/petting zoo, the pumpkin patch, corn maze, kids area and a hayride.  In addition, SOL based lessons from the Ag in the Classroom website are incorporated into a few of the tour stops.

If you would like to stay for lunch, bring a picnic and grab a spot in the shade on the lawn.

Homeschool Day

Mark your calendar for October 18 and join other homeschool groups for a tour of the farm.  Please RSVP to (434)-294-1960 or richlansdairyfarm@gmail.com, with your name and group total.  If you have more than 50 people in your group, we will schedule you for a separate day.
